Ethereum, the leading blockchain-based software platform, has announced the launch of the Devconnect Istanbul Scholars Program. This program aims to provide financial assistance to geographically and demographically marginalized individuals from the Ethereum community to attend this year’s Devconnect in Istanbul.

What is Devconnect?

Devconnect is a one-week-long gathering of the Ethereum community that focuses on independent events, including workshops and open discussions. The first-ever Devconnect took place in Amsterdam last year and featured events, workshops, and talks hosted by members of the Ethereum community.

Following the success of the inaugural Devconnect, Ethereum is organizing this year’s event in Istanbul, which is scheduled for November 2023.

Ethereum’s Financial Assistance Program

In a blog post published on June 26, Ethereum introduced the Devconnect Istanbul Scholars Program to support individuals in attending this year’s event. The program is aimed at talented and values-aligned individuals from communities that are currently underrepresented in Ethereum.

The Ethereum Foundation has invited applications from eligible candidates who will receive financial support for transportation, accommodation, per diem, and visa applications. The program intends to provide opportunities for individuals who may not have otherwise been able to attend due to financial constraints.

Recognition from the Crypto Community

Chinese crypto reporter Colin Wu shared the news of Ethereum’s financial assistance program on Twitter, highlighting the importance of this initiative in promoting diversity and inclusivity within the Ethereum community.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

The blog post outlines the eligibility criteria for the program and provides a detailed application form. To be eligible, individuals belonging to minority communities or countries underrepresented in Ethereum can apply or be nominated. Additionally, applicants should have proficient English language skills and be available from November 13 to 19.

Ethereum’s Continuous Development

Ethereum Blockchain is undergoing a permanent protocol upgrade that is expected to bring significant changes to the network. These developments demonstrate the continued growth of the crypto industry, particularly Ethereum, amid regulatory scrutiny from regulatory bodies like the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

With the launch of the Devconnect Istanbul Scholars Program, Ethereum aims to foster inclusivity and provide opportunities for individuals from marginalized communities to actively participate in the Ethereum community and shape its future.
